FOR YOU TOO LATE

The 'For You Too Late' project, a work in progress, is a drama with music based on the experiences of my friend Kris Yarborough when she lived and worked in Switzerland as a young woman in the late 1960s. Kris and I met on the composition stream of the Music For People summer school in 2012. Living 220 miles apart we work collaboratively by phone, email and occasional meet-ups.

Geometric shapes move around in space, interacting with each other in various combinations. The ellipse, triangle, rectangle and pentagon have time signatures of 6/8, 3/4, 4/4 and 5/4 respectively. Each shape has its own short melodic theme. Combined onto a staff in 4/4 they produce ever changing counter-rhythms and contrapuntal melodies.
